Banko-yaki 萬古焼 is a captivating traditional ceramic technique from Japan, celebrated for its rich history and artistry. This craft, which originated in the 18th century, gained prominence when the merchant Nunami Rouzan inscribed the words bankofueki, translating to "eternity, constancy," on earthenware produced in the town of Yokkaichi 四日市. Yokkaichi banko ware, known as Yokkaichi banko yaki in Japanese, showcases exceptional ceramic craftsmanship from the city of Yokkaichi in Mie prefecture. It is renowned for its unique heat resistance and a stunning, organic aesthetic.
Kyusu (急須) are traditional Japanese teapots crafted primarily from high-quality fired volcanic clay. The term "Kyusu" translates directly to teapot; however, it is commonly understood to refer specifically to a teapot featuring a side handle.
