Inoue Tea Yixing Tokusa Red Tokoname-yaki Kyusu - Japanese Teapot

In Japan, Yixing teapots were imported during the Muromachi period (1336-1573) and continued to be used until the Meiji period (1868-1912). The Edo period (1603-1867) saw the emergence of the Yokote teapot, which evolved over time. The Yokote teapots found today were crafted after the Edo period and eventually became the standard for Japanese tea containers, commonly referred to as kyusu (teapot). Tokoname is renowned as one of the six oldest kilns in Japan, a historic city of pottery with a legacy spanning over 1000 years.

Tokoname-yaki 常滑焼 represents one of the six oldest kilns in Japan, located in the Aichi prefecture. This revered form of ceramic pottery is produced in the area surrounding Tokoname, reflecting a traditional craft from one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns.
